Fall 2011 Update Part 4 - Transformers

Here is another intro cinematic remake, this time delving into Transformers.  I originally wanted to try and recreate the transforming titles, but it went from there to doing the whole intro sequence.  I used a very simple technique to get the title to "Transform", most of the work went into the intro animation and "cutting" up the title to piece together fluidly.

Fall 2011 Update Part 3 - Just Add Water

Competition was big this year at the Land of Lincoln's 4th Annual 21 Film Project in Decatur Illinois, we upped the ante for our film, but unfortunately we didn't get any awards, though we were nominated for all but one of the categories.  It was still a great production, cheers to the Puzzle House Studios team!

Fall 2011 Update Part 2 - Green Lantern

I learned a lot re-creating the Tron Legacy intro, and while I may not be able to re-create the success of that video, I do want to learn more by trying to imitate or replicate (not copy!) animation sequences on my own, here is The Green Lantern animated intro sequence modeled after the same movie sequence.

Fall 2011 Update Part 1 - Tron Defiance

There may come a time in which Tron Defiance can be finished, but it's not anytime soon.  Character animation workflow is long and tiresome, and there are lots of other projects in the wind that need more attention than this. Instead I finished up the current scenes for Tron Defiance and put them in a tech video, so here is the first minutes and a half of Tron Defiance:

Gorgeous Knight Almost Done

The VFX for Gorgeous Knight are finally finished! The film is going through the final touches as we speak, still no exact ETA when it will be shown, but it's all up to the editors and sound crew to make the final adjustments. A total of 7 FX shots and the title intro, here's a list of scenes that I worked on for the film, in no particular order.
  • Final death scene (stop motion)
  • Reunite scene (stop motion)
  • Escape scene, final shot (stop motion)
  • Where's Gorgeous? Locale zoom in/out animation (street to earth to street)
  • Opening Chase scene, Jeep fitted with missiles - CG
  • Opening Chase scene, missiles firing and destroying an suv.
  • Opening Chase scene, final shot with rubble, debris, smoke and fire (motion tracked)
  • Gorgeous Knight opening title sequence

As soon as the film can be viewed online I will post a link to the video as well as times for the vfx that I worked on.

Gorgeous Knight - The Art of Emotional Content

Working with musical composer Malek Jandali, we have been working on creating the title intro for Gorgeous Knight with Origin Nile Films.

Instead of trying to tell a story or using complex animations like we had originally discussed a while ago, I created a simple stone wall with missing person's posters on it.  I combined it with a dark maroon motif, windy dust and particles, windy sounds, audio from missing person's reports, police chatter and lights reflecting on the wall, posters flailing in the wind, and a play on specific letters throughout the animation.

The "KNIGHT" part of the title was animated using a halogen bulb effect, the letters all flicker randomly for a moment before turning on.  I used this same animation to animate single letters in the rest of the cast and production crew.

Here are some samples of the progress, and with the beautiful music progress has been going great!

Gorgeous Knight - In Post-production

Origin Nile studios of Atlanta has brought us in to help tackle 3 special effects shots and the Title intro for Gorgeous Knight. The film is entirely shot using photos instead of videos, so a lot of photo manipulation needs to be done to give the scenes "life".

Here is a sample frame from a scene we are working on.
